how to films

What better way is there to show and teach? Using well scripted and beautifully shot footage, we can skilfully explain the processes for any genre.

Using the power of video to convey machine operation to music instruments, we can create a process module that will not date and can be referred to time and time again. We create the perfect tools to ensure top end learning and even safety through knowhow.

Direction

From an initial meeting/conversation I will ascertain the project requirement and suggest various styles of video to accurately suit my client. I will ensure that any script is relevant and direct any onscreen individuals for their particular roles. I can deliver the right balance and feel for the subject matter, while ensuring the overall message is punchy.

Pre-Production

During the pre-production phase all location recce’s, actors/contributors, camera kit and camera crews are organised and assessed. Ensuring any location requirement is supplied, such as props. Rates, call sheets and risk assessments. Scripts are proof read and agreed with the client in advance.

Location Filming

Our crew would normally consist of two people and kit. All aspects of safety are adhered to and we always ensure that any contributors are made to feel at ease and we talk through the shot requirement or interview prior to filming. To ensure a greater flexibility in the edit process, we use multiple camera angles, shot sizes and camera moves, ensuring a more interesting video.

Location Lighting

We use LED lighting which is lightweight and can run on batteries. We favour a softly lit subject and will always ensure the background is beautifully lit and appropriate for the subject matter. We can arrange for exterior lighting as well as interior. For ‘Vox Pop’ style filming we use on camera lighting.

Sound

Depending on the filming requirement, we sometimes work with sound recordists but mainly we use our own microphone. We have personal mics which are radio linked and also gun mics offering superb directional sound. As well as location recording, we also offer voice over options.

Post Production

We offer expert editing facilities and professional encoding knowledge. Our editors can really make the story come to life, by using on screen graphics, interesting shot transitions, creative colour grading, all with alluring music and titles.

What people say?

"I worked with Stuart on two occasions both overseas, filming vehicles on test tracks, once in the frozen wastes of Arjplog then again in Japan. Stuart is not just a great cameraman, he is a great guy, easy to work with, very professional. He is a great asset to any shoot. We had never met before but quickly delved a rapport, getting exacty the shots we were after quickly efficiently and with ease, nothing was to much trouble, we quickly gelled. He is fun to work with, and I would readily recommend him without hesitation."
