funeral & memorial

funeral filming Services

We are a husband and wife team, Stuart and Helen Brown.  Stuart has vast experience in the world of filming and video production editing. Stuart is trained as a broadcast television cameraman with over 30 years experience and is able to offer a level of professionalism that will capture the memories that will remain with you forever.

Surrey Film Services film funeral videos for loved ones who cannot be there to pay their respects or have their final closure, although we are based in Surrey we are happy to travel and we cover the whole of the UK.
Please call us on 07710 110011 or message us using the button below. It may take a few days for you to decide whether to film the funeral, so there is absolutely no commitment or pressure if you call us today.

We aim to keep the process simple so that you can focus on more important things. There may be an additional fee for special requests or if there is more than one location involved.

The most important thing to do is give us as much notice as possible, even if you don’t yet have a confirmed date for the funeral. We can then discuss what you need and give you a price.

Funeral Filming

With all our services, we will contact you prior to the funeral day and discuss your requirement directly. We are more than happy to stay as long as is required, but our prices start with a 2 hour location rate as you can see in the Prices section below. We normally attend with one camera person and camera equipment and always ensure the utmost descretion during the ceremony. Depending on your requirement, we can film in multiple locations and cover shots such as guests arriving, the ceremony, the cremetorium, the grave side and the family home if required.

Tribute Films and Slideshows

We also offer a tribute film service and a slideshow creation service, both of these are created from footage or photographs that you send directly to us. We create a stylised memorial film or slideshow which offers a touching tribute to your loved one. The footage can be overlaid with your own words and the entire piece can be set against music, again your own choice or we can suggest for you.

how our funeral service benefits you

Surrey Film Service can ensure your memories are captured at the highest professional standards.

We provide the opportunity for people unable to attend, to see an over-view of the ceremony.

We can offer a streaming service to ensure relatives and friends can view the ceremony in real time, globally.

We can provide lasting memories with not only our films but with personal tributes as well.

How We Work

Bringing a vast amount of experience from the broadcast and corporate sectors, Surrey Film Service can now offer a professional level of filming for your loved ones funeral or cremation.

We fully understand the levels of sensitivity that are required and are happy to discuss in detail the things that are of the utmost importance to you and that you would like remembered. Through the entire filming process, we offer complete discretion and pride ourselves on our ability to make the entire process as unobtrusive as possible.

Depending on your filming requests/requirements, we would ordinarily attend with one to two cameras. If we opt for two cameras and arrive as a single operator, we will set up a ‘locked off’ wide shot with one, and film as a roving camera with the other.

We can supply various microphones and will ensure (if requested) that the lectern or individual making a speech has the microphone properly attached. For the main speakers, we will supply a radio mic and ensure that it is worn correctly.

We will also liaise with the funeral directors to ensure we know in advance the route of the hearse. This will enable us to get the best shots.

After the ceremony, and when all additional assets have been received (photographs, footage etc), we will get to work on your edit. We like to ensure that the family receives the finished film as soon as possible and we would normally complete this within 48 hours.

What people say?

In April this year my dad John Totham passed away following a short illness. Not being able to visit him in the last two weeks of his life added to the deep sense of loss my family already felt. He died in the COVID ward at Kingston hospital on Easter Sunday. We were restricted to the numbers who could attend the funeral. Immediate family only were allowed at a short graveside service & burial. Dad’s extended family, friends and neighbours were able to show their respect for a much loved man by lining the route that the cortege took to the cemetery. This beautifully profound gesture of silent solidarity was captured by Stuart Brown in a video that he and his wife Helen produced. Their discreet and respectful presence whilst filming the event was hardly noticed. The final version, so brilliantly edited & set to music, enabled all family & friends to be present on John’s final journey. A wonderful memory which we have shared with all.
